Delivery
Our Vehicles
Rackham's operates a dedicated fleet of delivery vehicles, which are based at their three factories in West Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Gloucestershire providing unrivalled nationwide coverage.
All Rackham vehicles come equipped with hiab offloading facilities and dedicated finger grabs to suit our three beam profiles.
The Rackham fleet consists of articulated "Drop N Go" (adjustable length trailers) vehicles which meet most access requirements.
With the trailer extended the vehicle is artic size, with the trailer closed the vehicle is resembles an 8 wheeler rigid) without the fixed cab/body).
If a vehicle smaller than an 8 wheeler rigid is required customers should make our Sales Department aware of it at the enquiry stage.
P.P.E. - Personal Protective Equipment
All drivers must wear the necessary PPE and also carry relevant training certificates, licenses risk assessments and method statements so they are available for inspection at any time.
Handling
All delivery vehicles (up to 44 tonne gross weight) require an appropriate roadway to the offloading point.
All the vehicles have lorry mounted cranes unless agreed otherwise, which utilise hydraulic finger grabs for offloading the beams.
Consideration must always be given to safe handling and installation methods and the wearing of the correct PPE.
Where beams are moved by mechanical means the forks must be at their widest setting and consideration should be given to load stability and width. Further relevant information on beam weights and safe handling procedures should be obtained from the relevant Health and Safety Product Information Sheet.
Beams can be colour coded if required to assist in plot allocation.
Site Storage
Beams should be stacked on site as indicated below to prevent camber or damage. All beams should be supported on suitable timber bearers (minimum 50mm x 50mm) placed close to the beam ends (within 300mm of the beam ends).
Beams must be stored clear of the ground and the correct way up at all times.
It is not necessary to protect the beams from the weather (although if storage is likely to exceed three months they should be stored under cover).
